This idea is about different approach to selling books. Normally you can buy book as a whole book or as a part of a bigger series. This idea is about buying books for hours. And it's not about audiobooks (but it might be too).
Book for hour may be a part of the book that typical (normal) person could read in one hour. If someone wants book for two or three hours, he/she can buy it.
Idea comes from the movies. When you go to the movie you may check how long it will take to watch the whole "Lord of the rings" trilogy (directors cut) and you may decide that for now you will only take part I. But when you start reading a book, you get hundreds of pages in one book and you might be overwhelmed with the time you think it will take to read the whole story.
If you have a 3-hours book (e.g. first part of first part of LOTR) that have proper ending (you must decide wisely how to divide the book, so people would like to reach for the next part) you may sell the book to more people in more parts.
Oh, and I know that it's not the way books should be treated, but in century when people count every minute of their time it might be a good solution to help them use their time wisely and read a book or two. Because reading is fun :)
